As per the new scheme students who had studied mathematics, physics, and chemistry can appear for NATA from the forthcoming year. These updations are made on a concept that science students can easily understand the concepts of technology-oriented buildings.

Also, the council had put a new proposal forward for national level counseling and if all the universities agree, this allows candidates to appear counseling anywhere for getting admitted into an architecture college in any part of the country. While formulating such a mechanism the reservation criteria of different states would be taken into consideration.The first exam will be held in April and thereafter the second one would be in July.

2018 Eligibility Criteria For Appearing NATA

  • The candidate should pass SSLC and +2 or any other equivalent exam with 50% marks in mathematics.

  • He/she should pass 10+ diploma recognized by Central or state government with 50% aggregate marks in mathematics.

  • He/ she should pass International Baccalaureate Diploma after 10 years of Schooling with 50% aggregate marks.

Who all can take NATA 2019?

NATA is an entrance test for candidates seeking admission in the first year of undergraduate degree course in Architecture. It is designed to evaluate a candidate’s observation skills, drawing skills, sense of proportion etc which are altogether an important concept for getting admission in Bachelor of Architecture. These qualities will make a student qualify with good scores. The scores secure in NATA is used by the admission authorities of different government aided and unaided colleges or schools that caters bachelor degree in architecture. NATA Thrissur provides a common base to compare the qualifications of the candidate.

2019 NATA Eligibility Criteria

  • The lower age limit for appearing in NATA has been abandoned. The candidate needs to capitulate with any age conditions that may be specified by the respective admission authority.

  • SSLC has become optional to full the total marks and the obtained mark fields. This is done so because it is not easily obtainable to get the scores from the grade sheet of 10th standard.

  • Those candidates who have secured pass mark in mathematics in +2 or other equivalent exams can apply for NATA examination.

  • Any candidate who have passed diploma with 50% aggregate marks in any stream is eligible to apply for NATA examination. Mathematics is a compulsory subject for this too.

  • Candidate must possess 50 % marks in SSLC/+2/diploma. No round off marks will be considered. If a candidate secure 49.9% marks it will be counted as 49.9% itself.

  • The validity of NATA score will be only for 24 months or 2 years from the date the candidate appears the exam.

  • NRI and international status students, the eligibility criteria for NATA remains the same for Indian nationals.

2019 NATA Exam Dates

While you are preparing for a competitive exam knowing well about the dates is very much important. The table provided below gives the complete information about the dates of NATA 2019. By December last or January 1st all details regarding the exam will be available in the website.

Examination Pattern

  • Online mode is the medium of the examination.

  • The exam is comprised of two sections part A and part B. Part A consists of MCQ type questions that are to be answered online and part B is a paper-based drawing test.

  • The exam will be held in 200 marks in which 120 marks is categorized to part A and 90 marks to part B.

  • The whole exam will be held for 3 hours. 90 minutes given for part A and 90 minutes for part B.

  • All instructions regarding the examination will be provided in English language only.

  • For every correct answer, 2 marks will be awarded for every correct answer.

  • There will be no negative marking for this scheme.

  • One should secure minimum 25% marks in MCQ portion (30 out of 120) and 25% marks in the drawing portion (20 out of 80).

The tie-breaking procedure of NATA 2019

  • Candidates who secure more overall marks in mathematics will be given more preference.

  • Also those candidates who attended less number of wrong answers in mathematics will be given more preference.

  • Candidates with the earlier date of birth will get more preference.

Use of Optical Response Sheet

This sheet is a special type of form used to mark multiple choice questions by darkening the bubbles. To detect answers optical mark recognition is being used. These sheets will be provided with blank boxes or ovals that correspond to each question. For automatic processing, barcodes mark the sheets and the ovals filled will return a value when read. This makes to record the answers digitally. Black ball point pen or pencil can be used to darken the bubbles. 2019 NATA Syllabus

  1. Drawing Test

Creating 2D and 3D compositions using given shape and forms, understanding scale and proportion of objects, geometric composition, shape, aesthetics, color texture, harmony and contrast, drawing of patterns (geometrical and abstract), from memory, perspective drawing, sketching and landscape, common day-to-day life objects like furniture, equipment etc., conceptualization and visualization through structuring objects in memory.

  1. General Aptitude

Visualizing different sides of 3D objects, analytical reasoning, mental ability, general awareness of national/international architects, and famous architectural creations, interpretation of pictorial compositions, visualizing three-dimensional objects from two-dimensional drawing, mathematical reasoning, and sets & relations.

  1. Mathematics

Algebra, logarithms, matrices, trigonometry, the theory of Calculus, application of Calculus, probability, permutation and combination, statistics, coordinate, geometry, 3-Dimensional, Coordinate geometry etc.

Common Instructions For The First Day Exam

  • Candidates are requested to take their seats in the examination hall before 30 minutes of the examination.

  • After 15 minutes of commencement test, no candidates will be allowed to enter the examination hall.

  • Carry original admit card to appear the exam.

  • The candidate is allowed to take one black ball pen, the same photo uploaded, eraser, colour pencils.

  • A clean cardboard or clipboard is allowed to enter the hall

  • Take the seat that had mentioned your roll number.

  • Nothing other than admit card, photo, ball pen, pencil, eraser are allowed to enter the hall

  • Electronics items are not admitted inside exam hall.

  • No candidate is allowed to clear off the hall without the permission of the centre-in-charge until the duration of examination is over.

  • Before leaving the hall the candidate should handover the OMR sheet to the supervisor.

  • Maintain silence in the examination hall.

  • If a candidate is caught with malpractices, his/her candidature shall be canceled and will be debarred from taking examination either permanently or for a period according to the nature of the offense.
